Care Assistant required for disabled lady in the Shildon area @ £12/hr

Support Worker required to support a physically disabled lady with cerebral palsy in the Shildon area

The lady is 50 years old and is physically disabled and is permanently in a wheelchair. She has capacity to manage her own affairs but needs help to get up out of bed on a morning, shower and get dressed. In addition to this she also needs a support worker to go on outings to the coffee shop, cinema and retail shops.

Hours /Wage

12.5 hours per week for care (Monday – Saturday) Sunday flexible

3 -5 hours per week for social/ outings – any day suitable to both

Sunday flexible to suit both

Duties

Care will be required 7-8 am for personal care ie getting the lady out of bed, showering, drying and dressing, applying creams morning and putting compressions stockings on. Also to make breakfast ie hot cup of tea and toast.

There may be a possibility of a paid sleepover for respite care as and when required. Help with meal prep when required

Support worker will also be required on an evening about 6-7 ish to change the lady from day clothes to pyjamas, slippers etc.

Social

A taxi/vehicle will be provided to take the lady out for a coffee or social outing to eg a garden centre for a few hours each week or twice a week depending on the trip and how far it is eg seaside or cinema.

Additional Requirements/Information

The successful candidate will be required to have a knowledge about caring for someone with a disability and a knowledge of moving and handling the lady.

This will also include use of handling a wheelchair.

A vehicle is provided to take the lady out however if the insurance was deemed too high to insure the successful candidate a disabled taxi would be provided to take the lady for social outings.

Enhanced DBS will be required, employer will cover the cost
