Kudu is the flagship restaurant of our collective. Established in 2017, Kudu is the South African/Modern European brainchild of Amy Corbin and Patrick Williams. Awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2019, we pride ourselves on friendly, intimate service with a keen attention to quality and detail. SUMMARY
The general duties and responsibilities of a waiter/waitress include the opening and closing of the restaurant, interacting and assisting guests with menu items and payments. An ideal candidate should have a general knowledge of the ingredients used in the restaurant or outlet. You should be familiar about operations and have a grasp of what makes for excellent customer service to thrive in this position. An ideal candidate must be resilient, they should also be quick thinking, self-driven, and motivated to be able handle the dynamic nature of restaurant activities. You must also be available to work within stated operating hours, including weekends and public holidays. You should also address customers’ complaints and queries in a swift, courteous manner. You must reflect strong capability in planning service, developing the business, and ensuring a continuous delivery of high service standards. Furthermore, contributing to lower operational costs, and deliver positive experiences for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and greet guests when they arrive at the restaurant.
- Introduce guests to the menu and announce any daily specials or seasonal menus.
- To be knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients to be able to answer any queries.
- Take guests food and drinks order promptly.
- Conduct timely checks on guest experience and assist with any complaints.
- Must be aware of all allergens and coordinate information with respective colleagues, Manager on Duty, and Head Chef.
- Have a general understanding of standard of service and deliver drinks and food promptly.
- Set stations for service and polish required cutlery or glasses.
- Set tables for the opening of the restaurant or outlet and comply with the opening checklist of the establishment.
- Similarly comply with the closing checklist and standards of the restaurant.
- Must also have an eye for detail for the opening and closing, ensuring that the restaurant and uniform is always presentable.
- Prepare drinks for guests and have knowledge of spirits, liquors, and liqueurs.
- Prepare cheques for guests and assist with cash or credit card payments.
- Contribute and attend daily/weekly meetings.
- Maintain familiarity with menu items, specials, and restaurant information.

Ideally an individual who is self-driven and ambitious. Passion for food and service is always necessary in hospitality, but the right candidate should reflect a positive attitude and strive for efficiency. A successful candidate should also have a thorough knowledge of and adherence to the law regarding the following company regulations:
