We are recruiting for a Support Worker to join the team at our Pathways Supported Accommodation programme based in East Kilbride.

Pathways provides support to people experiencing homelessness in South Lanarkshire. Homelessness is about more than not having a home, everyone that we work with has a unique journey and we walk alongside them each step of the way.

Right There is a charity working to prevent people becoming homeless and separated from their loved ones.

We’re here for children and adults who are living with the effects of poverty, addiction or broken relationships. Walking alongside people at home and in the community, we provide tailored support and form trusting relationships to help people feel happier, safer and more confident to live their lives.

Rooted in communities across Scotland for almost 200 years, we’re there for people going through tough times. Our work won’t stop until everyone has an equal chance to create a safe and supportive place to call home.

Reporting to the Senior Support Worker the main duties of the position will include:

  • Arranging and facilitating key work meeting to develop and review support plans in collaboration with the people we support to meet their individual needs both within the service and out with
  • Developing life skills with those we support, including how to maximise income, involvement in meaningful activities, budgeting, shopping, cooking and any other skills that aid to independence
  • Assist the people we support with engaging and integrating into the local community and helping them to become active citizens
  • Maintaining a safe environment for those we support, colleagues and others

Education and skills/attributes required:

  • Qualified to SVQ level 3 H&SC or SCQF equivalent (or are willing to work towards)
  • Experience of crisis work with vulnerable people
  • Knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness
  • Good time management and the ability to work to deadlines

Hours of work

  • An average of 39 hours per week worked Monday to Sunday on a shift rota system to ensure 24-hour service provision and provide adequate level of support to the services.
  • 7- week rolling rota which includes 1 flexi week which is issued in advance. Shift times are:

8am to 8pm, 10am to 4pm, 8am to 2pm, 2pm to 8pm. There is also 1 nightshift and flexi week can include nightshift if required. Rota is prepared 4 weeks in advance.
