Fish Trimming Operative

Trimmers are responsible for the trimming of fish for both retail and commercial clients within a safe, clean working environment ensuring maximum yield without compromising the quality standard of the product. The Trimmers will report to the Trimming Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

Liaise with the Trimming Supervisor regarding daily duties

Maintain and monitor product quality throughout the trimming process

Maintain personal hygiene standards

Maintain and contribute to continuous improvement of food safety standards in the working environment

Trim fish by hand

Pack and weigh product into correct colour coded bags

Correctly and safely sharpen trimming knives

Segregation of product

Strict PPE regulations MUST be adhered to

The correct lifting of boxes of fish into tubs according to company procedures

Undergo company in-house/external training, and take part in refresher training as and when required by the Company as per the company policies and procedures

Other ad-hoc duties as and when required within the factory

Behave in a safe and appropriate manner at all times

Adhere to all company rules and policies

Maintain high levels of work performance including Attendance, Timekeeping, Food Safety

Maintain good standards of Health & Safety of both yourself and colleagues

Ensure that all team members pursue safe working practices and all accident and reporting procedures are adhered to

This is not an exhaustive list of duties. You are required to undertake any other request as required by management. In addition, you will undertake any training that the company deems necessary that may assist you to effectively carry out the above responsibilities.

Skills and Specifications

An understanding of efficiency

Ability to work under pressure

Effective communicator, approachable and diligent

Possess a “right first time” diligent and conscientious work ethic

Flexibility is required – Saturdays on a rota basis at overtime rate

Reliability and good timekeeping

Able to work unsupervised (after appropriate training) or as a team member

Must have good knife skills

Be able to work quickly and accurately

Some heavy lifting will be required

Some knowledge of fish

An understanding of health and safety

Understand how to trim fish by hand and maintain product quality throughout the trimming process

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From £11.77 per hour

Experience:

  • Trimming: 1 year (preferred)
